She has traveled extensively through the US studying with the Native American Elders of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Cheyenne, and Lanape to authentically bring their cultures to share with communities. She is founder of the The Women’s Oneness Project and host of the radio show, Sacred Democracy.

Illarion is President of the Global Center for Indigenous Leadership and Lifeways, writer and chair of the indigenous knowledge sessions of the Global Summit of Indigenous Peoples on Climate Change in 2009 and as the chair of the scientific committee for Snowchange in 2005, a consortium of indigenous leaders from eight Arctic countries focused on climate change.
